| Ventalló is a small village
located in Alt Empordà, just south of Figueres and only a few kilometres
away from l’Escala, the old greek settlement of Emporium and Sant
Pere Pescador amongst other interesting locations. Ventalló’s
economy is based on farming and agriculture, especially olives from which
an extremely fine oil is extracted from arbequina olives, and that can
be purchased at the site where it is produced. Surrounded by fields, fruit
trees, hundred years old olive trees and pine forests, the Pyrenees can
be seen to the north, the south reveals the Montgrí mountain that
divides the High (Alt) from the low (Baix) empordà. To the east,
the Mediterranean, which together with the tramontana north wind shapes
the lives of the local people. You can enjoy these surroundings by foot
or bicycle. |
